UC3M – Computational Social Science

Use the digital traces of everyday life to investigate social questions. This English-taught master’s combines social-science reasoning with computational methods.

From questions to analysis

Study includes research design, programming, data visualisation, social networks, text mining and causal inference. A six-credit thesis brings the methods together around a focused investigation.

Who can apply?

The course welcomes relevant social-science and related graduates. Preparatory R-programming and statistics courses are required unless the coordinator accepts evidence of equivalent prior learning. English requirements should be checked against UC3M’s current admissions guidance.

Where the learning could take you

The combination can be useful for social research and interdisciplinary analytical work. Consider a real question about people or communities you would like to answer with data when comparing this course with a general data-science degree.
