What you will learn

The first year introduces sociology, economics, climate science, urban development and communication. In the second and third years, students shape their programme through minors and study at different European universities, finishing with a dissertation. This is a mobile European degree, so it is important to plan for living in more than one destination.

Who it may suit

The course may appeal if environmental change interests you alongside the social and economic life of places. Its interdisciplinary learning can support further study or interests in sustainability projects, policy and community development. Compare available minors before deciding how to shape your own route.

Applying and planning your budget

2026/27 first-enrolment tuition: €16.92 per credit for the Spanish/EU or qualifying resident category (€1,015.20 for 60 credits); €113.71 per credit for the non-EU non-resident category (€6,822.60 for 60 credits). Administrative charges and insurance are extra. A student-stay permit alone does not confer the resident fee category. The figures describe the UC3M fee table; ask the joint programme how fees and living costs work during mobility.

Use the international admissions route matching your school qualification. English-group study normally requires demonstrating B2 English during the first year; see UC3M’s language guidance for the conditions. The academic year normally begins in September. A future intake’s exact application dates are not confirmed here.
