What you could learn
The course connects engineering with biology and medicine. Early subjects include mathematics, anatomy, chemistry, materials and mechanics, building foundations for work on medical devices and biomaterials.
For your own comparison, think about the kinds of tasks you enjoy: making a model, interpreting an experiment or finding a design solution. Ask about examples of student projects and laboratory work to picture how those interests could develop.
Applying and preparing
UIC’s published application process includes an online application, supporting documents and an entrance examination. Ask admissions which documents and language evidence apply to your school background, together with the next available start date.
The first-year tuition figure is for 2026–27. Build a separate living-cost budget and allow for travel, accommodation deposits and any equipment you may need.
