Cyprus can offer an English-language study experience in a Mediterranean setting, with choices across business, computing, health and other fields. Before comparing courses, be precise about the institution and campus. This guide focuses on the Republic of Cyprus. Universities in northern Cyprus operate in a different jurisdiction; entry, residence, currency and institutional arrangements should not be mixed with those described here.
The best starting point is the learning you want: a subject you would like to understand, a skill you want to practise or a direction you hope to explore. Then compare the actual curriculum, teaching language and full cost. Our 程序目录 can help you build a shortlist.
Where to find English-taught study
"(《世界人权宣言》) University of Nicosia’s study catalogue includes bachelor’s and master’s programmes, with a substantial English-language offering. It lists both campus-based and distance-learning options, so confirm the delivery mode as well as the language of your chosen course. An online programme and a degree requiring regular attendance in Nicosia involve very different plans.
At other institutions, including the University of Cyprus, language and delivery must be checked programme by programme. Do not assume that every public-university course is available in English or that private-university courses all use one language. The practical question is whether all compulsory teaching, assessment and final work can be completed in the language you need.
For courses with clinical activity or placements, ask about the language used outside the classroom. Learning some Greek can help you settle into daily life even when the degree itself is taught in English.
Choosing by learning experience
A course title is only the beginning of the comparison. Look at the first-year subjects, later electives and the projects students produce. Does a business programme develop quantitative and analytical work as well as presentations? Does a computing course give you a substantial foundation before specialised modules? At master’s level, find out how much time is devoted to research or an applied project.
Ask whether practical experience is built into the curriculum or something you seek independently. A helpful course team should be able to explain the process and the responsibilities of the student. Avoid treating “industry links” as a guarantee of a placement or a job.
Consider the support available when you are studying away from home: academic advice, language help, counselling and arrangements for students with disabilities. These details can matter as much to the quality of your experience as the list of subjects.
Tuition fees: compare the right category
Cyprus does not have one tuition price for international students. The institution, subject, delivery mode, nationality category and year of entry can all change the amount. Always ask for the full fee schedule and check whether a quoted reduction is already included in the headline price.
For a specific example, the University of Nicosia’s 2026/27 fee schedule for new non-EU students lists Business Administration at €172 per ECTS, or €10,320 for a 60-ECTS year. The same schedule should be used to check the actual programme and workload rather than applying this business-course figure to every degree.
For postgraduate comparison, the University of Cyprus Graduate School lists €5,125 for conventional master’s programmes in total, while self-funded programmes have separate prices. Its listed MBA is €10,250. These are programme-total figures on the current page, not annual prices; confirm the fee for your intake and any additional charges.
Record tuition, deposits, registration, materials and insurance separately. If fees are quoted per credit, calculate the workload you actually expect to take. Our 学费指南 explains how to compare a full-programme quote with an annual or per-credit amount.
生活费用和住宿
A useful budget starts with housing you could actually rent near the teaching campus. Compare residence rooms and private accommodation using the total monthly cost, including electricity, water, internet and transport. Ask what happens during holidays and whether your contract covers summer months.
A national “maximum” living-cost figure is not reliable for an individual student. Your spending will depend on the city, whether you share, the condition of the property and your travel habits. Build your first-year plan from written accommodation offers and an itemised estimate for food, phone service, study materials and personal spending.
Keep arrival cash separate: deposits, rent in advance, travel and basic household purchases can be due before classes begin. Leave a contingency allowance. If the budget works only after assuming you will immediately find work, reconsider the plan before committing.
Admissions and scholarships
Use the course page and international admissions team to identify the route for your school-leaving qualification or previous degree. Check subject prerequisites, English evidence and whether documents need translation or certification. For a master’s degree, explain how your previous learning connects with the course you want to take.
Ask which intake is open and how much time to allow for the entire process. A general application form may remain online even when a particular course has limited places or a different timetable. Make sure the offer identifies the programme, campus, delivery mode and fee.
Scholarships and tuition discounts should be checked against their written conditions. Find out whether an award is automatic or competitive, how long it lasts and whether maintaining it depends on grades. Use our 奖学金目录 as another route to investigate funding, but count an award in your budget only when it has been confirmed.
Entry, residence and student employment
The Republic’s Migration Department student guidance explains the route for third-country nationals joining full-time higher education. It describes an entry-permit application submitted by the institution and subsequent residence procedures. It also states that this application cannot be submitted while the applicant is in Cyprus as a tourist or visitor. Plan the correct route with the institution before travelling.
The same guidance limits eligible student employment to permitted activities and requires the relevant contract approval. It states maximum working time of 20 hours per week during study and 38 during breaks. Those are limits under the stated conditions, not a promise that a suitable job will be available.
Studying in Cyprus can be rewarding when the learning, place and finances fit together. Choose a course you can engage with, ask direct questions about practical experience and make a plan that gives you time to learn, meet people and explore beyond the classroom.
