Study engineering abroad

Understand, experiment & build

Engineering connects scientific ideas with things people use: energy systems, vehicles, materials, aircraft and much more. A course abroad can help you develop those ideas through laboratory work, design challenges and the experience of living and learning in another country.

Choose the problems you want to explore

Some degrees introduce several engineering disciplines before you specialise. Others focus on a field from the beginning, such as aerospace, chemical engineering or photonics. At master’s level, a narrower course can be a chance to deepen an interest developed through earlier study or work.

Compare the balance of mathematics, laboratory work, design and projects. Look at the facilities and the kinds of practical assignments students undertake. If placements or industry projects interest you, ask how they work for your particular course and which languages are used.
