Good economic questions often need careful work with data. This English-taught master’s at the University of Alicante combines economic reasoning with statistics and programming, helping students move between a question, the evidence and an interpretation of the results.

Economics meets analytical tools
The curriculum brings microeconomics and macroeconomics together with econometrics, data mining and machine learning. Its 60 credits include a six-credit master’s thesis, giving you space to investigate a question in more depth.
De faculty programme page describes a strong quantitative focus. It is worth refreshing mathematics and programming before arrival, particularly if those tools were a smaller part of your previous degree.
Who might enjoy this course?
The programme welcomes backgrounds including economics, business, mathematics, statistics, physics and engineering. Applicants should be comfortable with quantitative study. The faculty explains accepted evidence of English, including B2 certification and specified alternatives; an interview may be used where those alternatives are unavailable.
Think about the problems you would like to analyse, whether in organisations, policy or further research. A clear interest can help you make purposeful choices about optional subjects and your final project.
Applications and life in Alicante
Use the current course title when enquiring: the older Quantitative Economics master’s is no longer accepting new students. The published 2026/27 main application window has passed, so check availability rather than assuming admission remains open.
